Free bet types
Here’s a quick overview of the free bet types you may see during Cheltenham and what each one means.
Free bet type | How it works |
Horse racing free bet | Can be used on any horse racing market. |
In‑play horse racing bet | Can be used after the race has started. In‑play may pause at key moments (start, last fence). |
Lengthen the Odds | Lets you increase the odds on an eligible horse. Available from the full race page. |
Lucky Dip | Automatically picks a random horse for you on eligible markets. |
Single bet | Can be used on single bets only. |
Double | A multiple bet with 2 selections. Both must win for the bet to return. |
Treble | A multiple bet with 3 selections. All selections must win for the bet to return. |
Acca bet (Accumulator) | A multiple bet with 4 or more selections. All selections must win for the acca to be successful. |
Tip: If you're unsure whether a free bet applies to your selection, the Terms and Conditions for the offer will list any restrictions.

Most offers require you to opt in and then deposit before making any qualifying bets.

Some promotions are credited in stages.
Once each stage becomes available, the bonus will be added to your account automatically.

Can’t place a bet with your free bet?
If you can't place a bet using your free bet, try the checks below:
Confirm that your selection meets the minimum odds. Many free bets must be used on selections over evens.
Make sure you are using the correct free bet type for the bet you want to place.
Free bets cannot be combined. Each one must be used individually.

Didn’t receive a horse racing refund?
For horse racing refund promotions, only your first settled qualifying bet after opting in will count.
The refund is only credited if the first settled bet does not win.
